Personally we love nothing better than a camping BBQ around an open fire when we are camping Northumberland, but if you cannot bear to cook or the North East weather is not being kind to you on your Hadrian’s Wall camping trip, why not enjoy our popular homemade Herding Hill Farm pizzas, delivered directly to your touring pitch, Castle Pod or Wigwam cabin by one of our friendly site wardens?
Available most Friday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm (between Good Friday and late September). If you are going to be arriving at our Northumberland campsite after work on Friday evening why not take the strain out of your day and let us do the cooking for you? Just place your order upon check-in at our Reception and Campsite Shop and pay and we’ll do the rest!

We offer:
- two sizes of thin crusty pizza, 9” and 12”
- all our pizzas are freshly made to order using the best quality ingredients, including 100% Mozzarella cheese and authentic Italian tomato sauce
- Vegetarian Pizza Special with mixed peppers, mushrooms and red onion
- Herding Hill Farm Pizza Special featuring pepperoni, spicy beef, meatballs and red onion
- Other favourites are Margarita, ham and pineapple, pepperoni and meat feast
- We also offer garlic bread and French fries

Did Romans eat pizza?
Flatbreads with toppings were believed to have been consumed by the Romans, with the modern birthplace of pizza thought to be around 1889 from the Italian region of Campania, home to the city of Naples. According to Wikipedia, a precursor of pizza was probably the focaccia, a flat bread known to the Romans as “panis focacius”, to which toppings were then added.
