Birdoswald Roman Fort

See the remains Hadrian’s Wall in all its glory. Stand in awe as the longest remaining stretch of the Wall spans as far as your eye can see, and explore the ruins of the Roman fort, a turret and milecastle. There is also a café, shop and visitor centre. Take a walk down to Willowford and imagine what it must have been like when a Roman bridge spanned the River Irthing, a lovely spot for a picnic and a spot of skimming.
